MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — County government wants suggestions from people, families, physicians, agencies and advocacy groups about how to best fight the opioid epidemic in our communities.

From now until Oct. 31, Middlesex County is seeking public comment on how to use its share of New Jersey’s $641 million portion from a nationwide class action lawsuit settlement with three big pharmaceutical distributors.

To offer comments, visit this Middlesex County Opioid Settlement Advisory Council website before Oct. 31, 2024. Middlesex County pledges to periodically reopen its public suggestion process, but this is the public’s first opportunity to influence the use of this windfall.

The county’s Opioid Advisory Council, created in March 2023 , includes a cross-section of experts in behavioral health, substance use disorders, and community outreach. It will ultimately provide the county Board of Commissioners with recommendations regarding the allocation of funds earmarked to combat opioids.
