Nutley's Oldest Trunk or Treat Returns for 2024 on Sun. Oct. 27 at Vincent United Methodist Church

NUTLEY, NJ - With trunks inspired by family favorites, Vincent United Methodist Church's annual Trunk or Treat is always a great community event. For 2024, the event takes place Oct. 27.

For a modest suggested donation, children and adults can collect candy and treats from a long line of trunks. There's even a refreshment area with hot cider and seasonal treats.

In the past, two trunks offered allergy friendly treats, both had a teal pumpkin as part of their decorations. Allergy-friendly treats included hard candy and non-food items. Food allergies, especially nut allergies, can cause serious medical reactions and even death for some people.

Nationwide, pedestrian strikes and fatalities increase during the days around the Halloween holiday. In 2009, a 9-year-old girl was struck and killed in Nutley while trick-or-treating. Trunk or Treat programs provide a safe area for children to trick-or-treat.
