OLEAN, NY — Police have identified the man whose dead body was discovered dumpster at an Olean grocery store on Friday as Max Braun, 31.

An autopsy and toxicology report to determine a cause of death are being performed at Erie County Medical Center. Police expect it will take a few months to complete the reports. Blovsky said police had had several non-violent encounters with Braun.

Police are continuing their investigation and looking for anyone with information about the incident.

Staff at Jim’s Park and Shop found Braun’s body in a dumpster the store uses for cardboard at about 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Olean police, firefighters and an ambulance rushed to the scene within five minutes of calling, according to Jim Mahar, the store’s owner.

If he fell in, I doubt he could get out. That dumpster is huge.
