BORDENTOWN CITY, NJ — Bordentown's live music fans can soon enjoy a free concert right in their backyards (or the river!), as a multi-act show is slated for next weekend.
The “AmericanaRama” concert is slated for Saturday, September 14 from 1PM to 7PM at the Bordentown Yacht Club, located at 1 Farnsworth Avenue in Bordentown City. The rain date is September 15.
Presented by Bordentown Arts and the Bordentown Yacht Club and sponsored by Lyons and Associates, P.C. and R.W. Tire, AmericanaRama is billed as an all-day, 5-act, mini-festival collaboration featuring The Sandy Roads Band, The Gatsby Brothers, The Hillwilliams, The Jolly Tinkers and Eddie and the Flatbedders.
In addition to six hours of old rock ‘n’ roll, folk and roots-oriented music on the water, those attending can also enjoy barbeque, cold beer and wine for purchase.
Bordentown Arts founder Leon Stanley told TAPinto Bordentown that the idea for AmericanaRama came in July after a brainstorming session with Bordentown City musician Justin Lee about Bordentown Arts' upcoming mid-September concert, part of the organization's line-up of free concerts for 2024 . While discussing possible programs, genres and venues, Lee suggested that The Gatsby Brothers perform. Lee, well-known in Bordentown for his past “Bach in the Park” concert series, had just begun collaborating with The Gatsby Brothers, a three-piece string ensemble of violin, bull fiddle, guitar and voice, which was formed by Jet Weston of Jet Weston and His Atomic Ranch Hands. The trio performs “enthralling arrangements dashingly executed with vivacious pizzazz,” as described by Weston.
“Never one to leave something alone, keep it simple and have it be a stand-alone Gatsby Brothers gig at the park, I said ‘hmmm.’ How about a multi-act bill, ala Playing the Field, but with all the acts playing some form of Americana? Justin liked the idea, and now I'm off and running,” Stanley said.
Bordentown Yacht Club Trustee and Special Events Chairman Thomas Wilms says that the AmericanaRama event is not just a great way to end the summer and kick-off the Fall season, but will also bring residents together.
“We feel this event will help tie the bonds between the Yacht Club and our great community," said Wilms. “We encourage the community to come down and enjoy the sounds of great music from the various bands, food, drinks and the beautiful views of Crosswicks Creek and the Delaware River.”
“We are sure this will be a great time for everyone either involved or just coming to partake. Let's all have fun, be merry, make new friends and rekindle old friendships.”
