North Salem Field Hockey Preview: Tigers Ready to Rebuild

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - After capturing the section championship in thrilling fashion last year, the Tigers are ready to get back to work.

The squad lost eight seniors to graduation after roaring into regionals and will now look to the team’s youth as they prepare for a new campaign.

“This is going to be a great rebuilding year for us,” said Coach Jen Frohman. “We have one senior, two juniors, 10 sophomores, five freshmen, and one 8th grader."

The Tigers will look to four-year starter and captain Sophia Aversano for offensive power and leadership on the field. Aversano was an integral part of both of North Salem’s section championship teams.

Coach Frohman also expects juniors Abby Cassidy and Kylie Dell to assume leadership roles for the squad.

“The veterans from last year‘s team learned so much from the seniors that graduated and they’re excited to show how much they’ve grown this year,” added Frohman. “This group has responded wonderfully to learning new things and building upon their prior skills. I’m excited to see how much they can grow as individuals and as a team this year.”

The Tigers will start their season on the road against Bronxville on Monday, Sept. 9 at 5 p.m.
