MONTPELIER, VT - A 32-year-old Jersey City man, Andy Soto, was indicted on August 29, 2024, by a federal grand jury for multiple drug and firearm-related offenses. Soto faces charges, including conspiring to distribute controlled substances, possessing over 500 grams of cocaine, more than 400 grams of fentanyl, and illegal possession of a firearm due to a prior conviction.

Soto, who pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on September 3, 2024, was ordered to remain in custody by United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle.

The charges stem from a July 24 arrest in North Troy, Vermont, where state authorities executed a search warrant at a residence linked to Soto. The search uncovered a substantial amount of drugs and weapons, including over 600 grams of cocaine powder, 300 grams of cocaine base, and 700 grams of fentanyl, as well as over $46,000 in cash and five loaded firearms.

The bulk of these items, along with a loaded .40-caliber firearm, were found in a safe bolted to the floor of Soto’s bedroom. According to investigators, Soto had been the subject of a long-running drug investigation, with authorities conducting multiple controlled purchases from him between July and December 2023.

If convicted on all counts, Soto faces a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.
