    Wayne Township Introduces Proposed New Fees for New Community Center

    The Wayne YMCA Will Likely Be the New Wayne Community Center Come Nov 1, 2024

    WAYNE, NJ – During this past township council meeting the new fees for the Wayne Community Center were introduced to the council as an ordinance, which was approved that night.  This ordinance will be voted on for the final time, likely in the next township coucnil meeting. Thould they be approved that night, it will become official

    According to a slide with us by Buisiness Administrator Chris Tietjen, the fees being charged by the township for residents will be lower than the current YMCA fees.

    The township will be offering two tiers of membership : Standard and Premium

    “The Standard Membership includes access to the fitness center, indoor pool, open gym, squash courts, locker rooms,” reads the slide. “Your membership also provides discounts on youth & adult programs.”

    “The Premium Membership Includes access to the fitness center, indoor pool, open gym, squash courts, locker rooms. PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP also includes access to most adult exercise classes, and some youth exercise classes at no additional cost.

    "PREMIUM MEMBERSHIP includes discounted rates on youth & adult programs.”

    There are also different fees for Wayne residents compared to non-Wayne Residents and monthly fees can be lowered by committing to an annual membership.

    Daily membership passes are also available, which are $15.00 for Wayne residents and $20 for non-residents.

    “The pass includes access to fitness center, locker room, gymnasium and swimming pool. No exercise classes are included. There will be a limit of five Daily Passes per individual, per year.”

    Group Exercise Classes are available at no extra cost for Premium Memberships, $8.00 per class for Standard Memberships and $12.00 for non-members. Includes only non-aquatic adult exercise classes.

    The fees up for introduction that night also included the costs for swim lessons, instructional classes, as well as personal training and facility rentals which includes, Pool Rentals, Gymnasium Rentals, Exercise Studio Rentals, Classroom Rental, and Theater Rentals, with several price points for residents and various organiaations.

    The ordinance notes: “Seniors with supplemental health insurance plans that will accept direct billing will be responsible for a minimum of $15 monthly payment for Premium Coverage.”

    For residents who may want to rent part of the Wayne Community Center, the fees are:

      • Gymnasium Rental $100
      • Exercise Studio Rental $75
      • Classroom Rental $50
      • Theater Rental $300
    • Non-Resident or For-Profit:
      • Pool Rental $325
      • Gymnasium Rental $150
      • Exercise Studio Rental $100
      • Classroom Rental $75
      • Theater Rental $400
    • Wayne Public Schools
      • Pool Rental $225
      • Gymnasium Rental – No Fee
      • Exercise Studio Rental – No Fee
      • Classroom Rental $50
      • Theater Rental $250
    • Theater rental daily (8 hr. min)
      • Wayne Public Schools $1,600
      • Gov./Non-profit/House of Worship $1,600
      • Resident $1,600
      • For-profit org/non-resident $2,400

    Sound/Lighting Technician (per Technician ) - $50/hour for anyone renting the theatre.
