    Sidewalk Art Festival Set for September 28

    JERSEY CITY, NJ - Artists are being invited to apply to participate in the third annual Pavement Art Festival.

    Hosted by t he Washington Park Association (WPA) of Hudson County, the event will take place at Washington Park on September 28.

    According to organizers, 10 artists will be invited to “descend on the park near Palisade Avenue to create pavement art related to our theme for the event: Empowerment.”

    The WPA will provide soft pastels for artists’ use. Artists are free to grind and mix these with water to use as paint if desired, but they must supply their own brushes. Artists are liable for the cleaning costs associated with any non-WPA provided media which is applied to the pavement surface and leaves permanent markings.

    Prizes will be awarded for the audience favorite, best in show professional and best in show student, and all artists will be given a stipend for their time.

    Public viewing of the art as its being created and finished work is all part of the event and viewers will be invited to vote for their favorite piece.

    The event will include family arts activities and a public chalk drawing space for anyone who wants to join.
