A Hot Air Balloon Flies Over Hinsdale

When I was a kid, I thought hot air balloons would be a common occurrence in my life. Cartoons and TV really made it seem like hot air balloons were a typical vehicle for everyday travel. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen one outside of specific events.

But as I was driving near Hinsdale today I saw one. And I thought that was pretty cool.

Our society tends to value quick action: whether that be breaking a news story, staying overtime at your job or coming in early to start a project. We too often are caught up in life and forget about the whimsical nature of our existence.

Even though 7-year-old me would be disappointed that this is the first hot air balloon he’s seen in the “wild,” I think he’d be proud that I stopped to take a picture.
