TRENTON, N.J. – Assemblywoman Aura Dunn’s bill (A4035) that approves the sale of the state-owned Central Park School campus in Morris Township was signed into law Thursday. The 10-acre property will be conveyed to the Morris County Educational Services Commission for $1.

“This puts the land and building under local control and removes the red tape of going to the state for any needed improvements or changes,” Dunn (R-Morris) explained.

The school, formerly known as the Morris Regional Day School, was part of the Department of Children and Families transitional education program. Now operated by the commission, Central Park School offers individualized programs for special needs students ages 3 to 21.

Sales of state-owned properties with valuations of $500,000 or more require legislative approval. Although this property was at 5 Jean St. not appraised, adjacent land was valued at $800,000 before its sale.

“The commission knows best how to serve the needs of its students at Central Park School,” Dunn said. “It’s great to help students with special needs.”
