Family of Three Dies in Woodbridge Accident on Parkway

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A family of three from Bergen County died in a weekend accident on the Garden State Parkway, according to the New Jersey State Police.

The accident happened shortly before midnight on Saturday, Sept. 14 near Parkway milepost 131 on the northbound side of the parkway, according reports from State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan.

The initial investigation indicates that 54-year-old David Dryerman from Woodcliff Lake, was driving a Tesla when it ran out of the Parkway lanes,  struck a sign, the guardrail and concrete bridge support, the sergeant said.

Dryerman, his wife Michele, also 54, and their 17-year-old daughter, later identified on social media as Brooke Dryerman, died in the crash.

Hours before the fatal accident, Brooke – a Pascack Hills High School senior – posted Instagram photos of herself from the “ Sea.Hear.Now ” weekend music festival in Asbury Park. The family was reportedly heading home when the accident happened.

Pascack Hills High issued a statement Sunday saying grief counselors would be available Brooke’s friends, classmates and other students today, Sept. 16th.

Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos A. Rendo offered his condolences on Facebook saying: “I just received word of this terrible tragedy. I have ordered that our flags be lowered. I am in shock. Please keep the family in your prayers.”

Social media posts on the mayor’s page say the Dryermans also have a son who was not in the car at the time of the accident.

The State Police continue to investigate reason that Dryerman lost control of his Tesla Model S and swerved off the Parkway’s northbound lanes.
