Eastside Shuts Out Kennedy in 5-0 Victory on Tennis Court

PATERSON, NJ - Eastside's tennis team claimed their first win of the season on Monday with a 5-0 victory over Kennedy.

The Ghosts (1-3) dominated in both singles and doubles play, starting with Walisa Cespedes, who swept the Knights' Yolimar Rosado Rodriguez in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at first singles. Flor Esther Ramos Cedeno followed up at second singles, defeating Katelyn Sotomayor 6-4, 6-4. At third singles, Maria Campos Silverio also earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Alyna Lopez.

Kennedy (0-5) struggled to field a full team, resulting in forfeits for both first and second doubles matches, giving Eastside’s Carmen Arias De Leon, Rocio Espinal Peralta, Autumn Campbell, and Yhanderli Rodrigues Arias uncontested victories.

With this win, Eastside improved to 1-2 in the Big North - Liberty Division, while Kennedy remains winless at 0-4 in division play.
