Morristown, NJ – Online applications for the Myles Smiled on You Award are now open, announced the Morris Educational Foundation.  This $5,000 Award, created in memory of Myles Mislavsky, a 2013 MHS graduate, reduces the burden of college or trade school student loans for Morristown High School (MHS) alumni.

Graduates of Morristown High School can apply for this Award until Wednesday, October 30.

Myles Mislavsky was known for being kind, generous, and having a bright personality. Each year, his family – Hector Mislavsky, Judy Martinez and Jessie Mislavsky – honors his memory through the Myles Smiled on You Award to help graduates of MHS pay off secondary school loan debt. Administered by the MEF, a non-profit organization enhancing excellence in education in the Morris School District for over 32 years, it is funded by Myles's family, friends, and the Golden Bagel Runners.

“I want to express my appreciation at being selected for the Myles Smiled on You Award”, said Ashlyn Wolff (MHS Class of 2012), a 2023 award recipient and classmate of Myles, wrote upon receiving the Award. “I remember Myles very vividly from high school, as I was a year above him. He was such a positive, brilliant light, and although I haven't kept in touch with most of my peers from high school, he was the kind of person you could never forget.”

Since inception five years ago, 32 recipients each received a $5,000 Myles Smiles on You Award for student loan debt reduction.

To be considered for this Award, Morristown High School alumni who apply must possess similar positive qualities to Myles and be a graduate of a 2- or 4-year college, university, or trade school with student loan debt. Special consideration is given to graduates of Myles' Class of 2013.

In November 2024, it is expected that between six and 10 Awards will be presented this year.

The Mislavsky/Martinez family hopes that with this financial Award, Myles will "smile on" Morristown High School alumni just as he did during his remarkable life.
