    CHATHAM, NJ – The Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce booked a reliable social media expert - a teenager - as its featured speaker on Wednesday evening.

    Chatham High 17-year-old Sofia Smith gave her presentation on "Small Business, Big Difference: How to Use Social Media Marketing Effectively For Your Local Business" at a gathering of CACC members held at the Chatham Township Firehouse.

    The meeting also featured award-winning digital marketer, Joel Kraus , who shared strategies from his book “The Sharkbite Method”.

    Smith's presentation was the culmination of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project and she explained that she was passionate about helping small businesses in Chatham compete with online shopping through the use of social media.

    “Brick and mortar, mom and pop business, to me these are real people in my community and people I see every day,” Smith said. “I really just want then to benefit as much as possible from all the resources that they have through social media.”
