MAHOPAC, N.Y.— The 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit—a traveling museum commemorating the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001—is arriving today with a multi-agency police escort and will be on display at the Mahopac Firehouse (Route 6 and Croton Falls Road) on Sept. 26 and 27.

Councilman Robert Kearns said the town was able to bring the exhibit to Mahopac through a connection with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation

“The mobile museum travels the country, East Coast to West Coast,” Kearns said. “It’s a tractor-trailer that opens up with artifacts and a memorial wall that’s designed to educate students about 9/11—because today’s high school students weren’t alive when it happened. Two firefighters tell their first-hand account of that terrible day. They answer questions and act as tour guides.

“It’s an educational project to make sure no one ever forgets that tragic day,” added Kearns, who witnessed the events as a student in the Bronx.

“I lost a family member in 9/11 and it [inspired] my brother and me to serve in the military,” Kearns said. “I think it’s going to be a somber moment for a lot of community members.”
