SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Superintendent Matthew Beck will be presenting plans for an addition to the Alpine Elementary School at the board of education meeting on Thursday.  This initiative would require voter approval in bond referendum special election.

According to the agenda Beck and architect Allen Barnett of DiCara Rubino Architects will present their “referendum proposal” for the expansion project.

On September 18 Beck sent a letter to the “Sparta Community” explaining the board of education and district administrators have been “collaborating with the architect to create plans for a referendum that would bring a much needed addition to Alpine Elementary School.”

“Necessary facility upgrades” to other school buildings will be included in the referendum initiative, Beck said in his letter without further details.

The public will be given the opportunity to comment on the plans and offer input after Beck’s presentation at the meeting on Thursday, according to the letter.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 in the auditorium at Mohawk Avenue School.
