RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph field hockey team has been on a series of streaks this season, dropping their first two games, winning three, and then dropping two again. But they got back on the winning track when they knocked off Hackettstown at home on Tuesday Sept. 24 with a 4-3 victory. ( Link to photos at end of story )
Things were looking good for the Lady Rams early, as they took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter with Kayla Pentz netting two and Avery Gamsby scoring once. But the Tigers fought back to cut the lead to 3-2. Gamsby gave her team some breathing room before half with her second goal of the game for a 4-2 lead.
In the second half both teams played tougher defense and both goalies stepped up. The only goal was from Hackettstown in the fourth quarter, but they could not get another and the Rams took the win by a 4-3 score. Jessa Altemose had 12 saves in goal for Randolph to backstop the win. Randolph's record now stands at 4-4 on the season.
The Lady Rams will now play four of their next five games on the road, starting with Boonton and Chatham. They return home on Oct. 2 to face West Morris, and then hit the road again to face Mt. Olive and Mendham. For Game Photos CLICK HERE
