CRANFORD, NJ -- The SHS Gymnasts dropped a very close meet on Tuesday at Cranford 104.55 to 104.2, posting the second highest team total since 2021.

Freshman Charlotte Lemkau finished first overall with a 35.3, was third on vault (9.0), second on beam (8.85) and won floor with a score of 9.5, setting a new school record. The previous record of 9.475 dated from 2018 was set by Emma Burke, a four-year varsity letter winner known for strong tumbling and an impressive skill set.

Sophomore Caraline Delikaris won bars with an 8.8. Sophomore Lily Silver posted a season high 8.45 on beam and Juniors Catherine Fagan and Ally Festejo both contributed 8.5s on vault.

In achieving this impressive team total, there were many strong performances on the other events, but the Hilltoppers were at their best on floor exercise. Juniors Charlotte Callaway (8.75), Anneliese Claus (9.05) and Quinn DeMuth (9.35) all set career high scores with their floor performances and the team floor total of 27.9 was just shy of a school record of 27.975 set nearly 10 years ago in October 2015.

The Hilltoppers, now 2-3 on the season, will travel to Hillsborough on Saturday, September 28, to compete in the Raider Invitational at 10:30 a.m. against many top teams in the State. After that, the team returns home to host Roxbury HS on Wednesday, October 2, at 7:15 p.m.
