HOLMDEL, NJ – The Holmdel Township Committee held its latest public meeting, addressing several important ordinances, resolutions, and community updates. The multi-hour session included discussions on infrastructure improvements, school district updates, and upcoming community events.
The committee held a public hearing on Ordinance 2024-8, which approves the conveyance of an access easement for the Crawford Hill property to Monmouth County. The ordinance aims to grant the county access rights to specific lots as part of an open space preservation effort. Ralph Blumenthal, a resident of Stony Brook Road, raised questions regarding the specifics of the easement, to which Township Attorney Mike Collins provided clarification. Collins explained that the ordinance was largely a housekeeping measure to ensure the county's access to the property.
Township Administrator Mr. Delaney provided an update on Holmdel’s 2024 Road Program, which will commence with milling and paving on Hawthorne Avenue. The work, scheduled to last 5-6 weeks, will address various road conditions across the township. Delaney emphasized that the project timeline will depend on weather conditions and potential obstacles.
The committee also approved several resolutions, including one authorizing a contract with the township's Chief Financial Officer and another with CME Engineering for traffic study services related to ongoing litigation. Both resolutions passed.
Committee members provided reports on various local activities: Committeeman Romano shared updates from the Board of Education, highlighting recent improvements in transportation services and the success of the district's fall athletics teams. Committeewoman LaMountain reported on the Holmdel Green Team's work on community energy plans and their upcoming outreach at Bell Works Market to promote sustainability initiatives, including community solar projects. Committeeman Lucarelli informed the public about increased traffic complaints at Cross Farm Park and urged visitors to follow correct traffic patterns to avoid driving on the grass. He also announced that the township’s final brush collection for the year has been completed, and fall leaf collection will begin in November.
