Klingener, Delgado spark 8-0 victory

DENVILLE, NJ – Senior Matthew Klingener and junior Anthony Delgado each scored two goals and added two assists to lead Morris Knolls to an 8-0 victory over Morris Catholic in a high school boys soccer game played at Knolls on Thursday, Sept. 26.

Seniors Andres Torres-Capote and Allan Rzeznik and juniors Jackson Robinson and Thomas Becht each added singles goals. Senior Arato Nakano and sophomore Jefferson Zapata each finished with an assist to complete the Golden Eagles’ scoring.

Knolls goaltender Ben Polito, a senior, made but one save in recording his first career shutout. Morris Knolls put 30 shots on the Morris Catholic goal.

Morris Knolls held the halftime lead at 2-0 before going on a six-goal second-half spree that put the game out of reach.

The victory enabled the Eagles to reach the .500 mark for the season at 4-4-1. Knolls is 2-3-1 in the Northern Division of the North Jersey Athletic Conference. Morris Catholic is 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the Independence Division.
