Football: New Providence Blasts Roselle, 39-6

ROSELLE, NJ -- TJ Munn scored three touchdowns to lead New Providence to a 39-6 football victory over Roselle on Friday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Pioneers (4-1) scored three touchdowns in the second quarter. AJ Whitehead went 23 yards from scrimmage for a score to put New Providence ahead, 6-0.

Munn scored the next two touchdowns, one on defense and one on offense. He intercepted a pass and returned it 70 yards for a score, then, at quarterback, he ran 43 yards for a TD as the Pioneers opened a 20-0 lead.

New Providence scored two more touchdowns on return plays in the third quarter. Owen Silver brought a punt back 39 yards for a TD, Munn ran 32 yards for his third TD of the game, and Ryan Bournique picked off a Roselle pass and brought it back 30 yards to the house for a 39-0 New Providence lead.

Munn finished with 102 rushing yards and 46 passing yards. Whitehead was 10-for-50 on the ground.

New Providence will host Middlesex next Friday night.
