Football: Carteret Crushes Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 37-7

CARTERET, NJ — Jakir Thomas rushed for 225 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Carteret to a 37-7 football victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Friday night.

Thomas carried the ball 18 times, but Carteret's first TD of the game came on a 68-yard run by Al-Naiquan Boseman in the first quarter. Thomas scored on a 68-yard run before the quarter ended with the Ramblers (2-3) ahead, 14-0.

After Scotch Plains-Fanwood's only touchdown of the game, Thomas returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. He also had scoring runs of 60 and 15 yards.

Gatik Bhardwaj kicked a 23-yard field goal in the second half for Carteret.

Boseman finished with 88 yards on nine carries.

Carteret will play at New Brunswick on Friday night.
