HACKENSACK, NJ - Bergen Volunteers, the organization behind developing local civic-minded leaders in Ridgewood and neighboring communities, has announced the appointment of Shara Nadler as chief executive officer. The new appointment was formalized earlier this month and instills a new leader for the nonprofit that serves as the hub of Bergen County's social welfare network.

“Ms. Nadler comes to us with a very strong career in nonprofit and business leadership,” said Bergen Volunteers Board President Paul Coller. “Her understanding and support for the community and for Bergen Volunteers’ mission, will help our organization continue to expand its reach among Bergen County residents in need of our services.”

Nadler comes to Bergen Volunteers from the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey where she directed and grew their volunteer center, expanded volunteer engagement and advanced fundraising opportunities. She was director of development and corporate sponsorships, also working to establish new community development opportunities for the federation.

“It is inspiring to see the impact that volunteers can have on building a stronger, vibrant community, and I look forward to new opportunities and partnerships to grow our resources and expand our impact and reach,” said Nadler. She has more than 30 years of professional experience in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. Nadler founded iPiggiBank, an education-based company that created interactive financial literacy curricula and programs for students in grades K-8.

“We are confident that with Shara Nadler’s visionary leadership, our programs and initiatives will further thrive, empowering us to achieve the next level of service to our community,” explained Coller. Nadler holds a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in non-profit management from Baruch College Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, and a Bachelor of Science in mass communications from Boston University’s College of Communication.
