ROXBURY, NJ – Tough times continued Saturday for the Roxbury High School football team as the Gaels, playing away against Morris Knolls, lost their fourth game.

The 42-7 final score brought Roxbury’s season record to 1-4 and enabled a continuation of the Golden Eagles’ undefeated status.

It was the fourth consecutive game in which Roxbury lost by at least 28 points. After opening the season with an 18-13 victory over Parsippany Hills on Aug. 30, the Gaels fell 48-0 against Mount Olive on Sept. 6, 42-6 against Sparta on Sept. 13 and 28-0 against Montville on Sept. 20.

Playing in warm but wet afternoon conditions, Roxbury saw its best performance of the day come with 4:52 remaining in the first quarter when senior Vincent Dolise took a hand-off from senior quarterback Connor May and ran 59 yards for the Gaels’ only touchdown.

The run and successful extra point attempt brought the score to 21-7, but it was the last time Roxbury would score during the game, a matchup that saw Morris Knolls' Bobby Brickner chalk up 163 rushing yards and score two touchdowns while classmate Justin Hanson ran 138 yards and also reached the end zone twice.

Next up for the Gaels is Chatham in a Homecoming Game at 7 p.m. on Oct. 4. Chatham is 2-1 on the season. When the teams met last October, the Cougars beat the Gaels 24-6.
