EAST HANOVER, NJ –The Hanover Park football team continued their undefeated season by defeating Parsippany 52-6 on Friday night in a game where defense and special teams shined for the Hornets.
From the very first quarter, Hanover Park set the tone with explosive defensive plays. Joey Tantawi opened the scoring with a 33-yard fumble return for a touchdown, and later in the quarter, he added a 20-yard interception return to extend the lead to 21-0. In between, Joey Filippone added a 14-yard rushing touchdown.
The second quarter saw more of the same as Hanover Park built a commanding lead. Ryan Galioto kicked a 31-yard field goal, followed by rushing touchdowns from PJ DiMaiolo (2 yards) and Joey Borrello (12 yards). Parsippany's only points came late in the quarter, with Kevin Regan connecting with Christian Marto for a 28-yard touchdown pass, but the Redhawks failed to convert the extra point, making the score 38-6 at halftime.
Hanover Park wasted no time extending their lead after the break, with Kyle Dunn having an 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the third quarter. The Hornets’ final score came in the fourth quarter, as Michael Weakland punched in a 1-yard run, sealing the 52-6 victory.
The Hornets' defense was very effective, forcing three interceptions and recovering a fumble. Tantawi's standout performance on defense was complemented by contributions from Rocco Zirpoli, Darien Iannacone, and Jack Kovacs, who each helped contain Parsippany’s offense. Offensively, Joey Filippone led the rushing attack with 84 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, while Galioto was perfect with extra points, going 7-for-7.
With the win, Hanover Park moves to 4-0 on the season, solidifying their place as a top team in the league. The Parsippany football team falls to 0-4.
