Be an Ambassador for Bordentown City: Volunteers Sought for Cranberry Festival

BORDENTOWN CITY, NJ — Are you a proud Bordentown resident who is looking to help showcase what the town has to offer? Organizers of this weekend's Cranberry Festival may have the perfect role for you.
The 34th annual event takes place on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 on Farnsworth Avenue in Bordentown City.
Organizers of the Cranberry Festival are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to give both vendors and visitors a “warm Bordentown City and Bordentown Strong welcome" through a new feature — a Cranberry Festival Information Table, which will be located in front of the Bordentown City Police Department building at 324 Farnsworth Avenue.
The aim of the table is to serve as a “central hub” to help attendees of the event not only find their favorite vendors and provide shuttle pick-up information, but to have volunteers serve as ambassadors for Bordentown City by recommending restaurants and stores to visitors or simply answering questions or engaging in conversation about the town.
Organizers are seeking two volunteers each to be at the Information Table during two 2-hour shifts: 12PM to 2PM and 2PM to 4PM on both Saturday and Sunday.
In addition to the Cranberry Festival Information Table, at least eight volunteers are needed on Saturday morning from 7AM to 9:30AM to be stationed along Farnsworth Avenue to help vendors check-in and find their tent locations, as “Saturday morning can be a bit hectic, and having more volunteers out on Farnsworth makes a big difference. Our goal is to provide that personal Bordentown City touch, and while eight is ideal, we'd love to have even more helping hands to ensure a smooth start to the day!"
Volunteers are also sought for Sunday morning from 7AM to 9AM on Farnsworth Avenue. However, not as many will be needed, as vendors should already be familiar with the set-up.
Residents interested in volunteering for any of the shifts should send an e-mail to btowncranfest@gmail.com with “Volunteer” in the subject line, and tell organizers when they'd like to volunteer — Saturday, Sunday or both — and what they are interested in doing — morning vendor check-in or Cranberry Festival Information Table. Volunteers can also sign up at https://signup.com/go/sGpisMz .
Started in 1989 by lifelong Bordentown City resident and co-founder of the Downtown Bordentown Association, Jackie Reed, the first Cranberry Festival started modestly with 12 vendors set up on Walnut Street. The Festival quickly grew to include all of the Farnsworth Avenue business district and became one of New Jersey’s largest juried arts and crafts shows. Cranberry Festival weekend has been known to attract crowds of up to 40,000 people to Bordentown City over the two-day period.
For more information about the Cranberry Festival including details about parking, shuttle pick-up and drop-off locations, “Dear John” port-a-potty locations, and pet rules — only service dogs are permitted to attend — visit the Cranberry Festival’s website at https://btowncranfest.com/ .
