PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - Phillipsburg native Jason Tino is set to compete in the prestigious International Six Days’ Enduro, the ultimate off-road racing event in the world, taking place at Silleda in Galicia, Spain, from October 14-19, 2024.
Sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the ISDE has national teams around the world who compete against each other to determine the World Championship of off-road racing. A total of 10 individuals will compete on behalf of the USA.
Each participating country is authorized to have four riders on the World Trophy team; three riders aged 23 or younger on the Junior Trophy Team, three female riders on the Women’s World Cup Team, and three riders on each of the Club division teams. Tino will be competing in the Junior Trophy Team category.
Tino, born and raised in Phillipsburg, is a 2021 graduate of Phillipsburg High School. He was an active wrestler from grade school through high school and ran cross country his junior and senior year. His passion for off-road racing began at a very young age. After completing high school, Tino decided to pursue racing professionally.
“I’m beyond proud to have accomplished being selected for this team in just a short three years!” Tino shared with TAPinto.
In May 2024, the American Motorcyclist Association announced the 2024 ISDE U.S. Teams , including Tino. A three-day Sprint Enduro World Championship at Harleywood in Bristol, Virginia, from July 13-15, 2024, put Tino in first place in the Pro 2 class . He also competed in Marvin’s Mountain Sprint Enduro from Aug. 24-25, 2024, in Masontown, West Virginia, as second in the Pro 2 class.
Over the years, rules of the ISDE have evolved, but the event always uses an enduro-type format. RIders are to follow a set route at a set place over six days. Additionally, there are strict controls on when a rider may work on his or her machine and the availability of tools and spare parts. Competitors almost always ride more than 1,000 miles in total.
The World Trophy champion is determined by totaling the times of each team’s three fastest riders for each of the event’s six days, which includes time penalties. The team who has the lowest combined time will be the winner. The USA has successfully won the World Trophy a total of three times. For the Junior World Trophy, Women’s World Cup and Club divisions, the champion is determined by totaling each three-rider team’s times for each, also including time penalties. The team with the lowest combined time is crowned the class champion.
Tino is sponsored by the following: Husqvarna Motorcycles USA, Town and Country Cycle Center, Reiner Pump Systems, The Nu House, Bulletproof Designs, Super B Batteries, Wheel Worx, Decal Works, Ridge Riders Motorcycle Club, Ranch Russell, E-line Accessories, Moose Racing, Parts Unlimited, XC Gear, Scott Goggles, Mike Beeler Equipment Services, Mark and Camile Kenyon.
“I couldn’t have made it to the races and be where I am today without my family and friends, coaches and mentors, and sponsors,” said Tino.
The International Six Days’ of Enduro will be livestreamed on FIM-MOTO.TV where you can watch Jason Tino compete for the Junior World Trophy class live from the Silleda in Galicia, Spain.
