In the first set, Sparta jumped out to a 6-3 lead, capped off by a service ace from senior middle blocker Sylvia Przydzial.
After Sparta took a 9-4 lead, a timeout called by West Morris Central sparked a five-point scoring jolt from the Wolfpack, tying the set at 9 apiece.
Kills by Lea Tsamadias and Tara Keller gave Sparta the lead for good and a service run from Przydzial iced the first set for the Spartans as they won 25-20.
The second set was more of the same from Sparta. However, this time, the story was more about the miscues from West Morris Central.
Sparta never trailed in the set and cruised to victory, capped off by a kill from junior outside hitter Arielle Gomez. The Spartans won the second set 25-17 and took the match 2-0.

The very next day, Sparta traveled back home to face the Bergen Tech Knights in an out-of-conference clash.
Sparta started off very slow in the first set, as they trailed 4-1 early on. Sparta broke off a 6-1 run and took the lead 7-4, which forced a timeout from Bergen Tech.
From there, Sparta never looked back and a service run by none other than Sylvia Przydzial put the game out of reach. The Spartans took the first set 25-15 as senior captain Tara Keller mashed a kill to end the set.
In the second set, the two teams just about traded points and the score was tied at 6-6. From there, kills by Lea Tsamadias and captain Aralyn Saulys helped Sparta take a 9-6 advantage.
After a timeout was called by Bergen Tech, Saulys recorded a kill and an ace and Sparta was off to the races—we thought.
Fast forward to the latter stages of the second set, Sparta held a 19-14 lead. Three straight points were scored by Bergen Tech, which cut the Sparta lead to just two points.
After Coach Jozefczyk called a timeout to get Sparta focused, Sylvia Przydzial floated in an ace to give Sparta some breathing room. Two kills in consecutive plays from Kaitlyn Peterson helped Sparta wrap up the win, taking the set 25-18.

With those two wins, the Spartans improved to 6-2 (4-1 NJAC American). Sparta will host the Morristown Colonials in one of the biggest games of the season to date for the Spartans on Tuesday, October 1 st at 4pm.
