Dominant Rushing Performance Powers Verona Football To Victory Over Newark Central

VERONA, NJ - Verona Varsity Football defeated Newark Central 31-20, due in large part to a dominant rushing performance. The win moves the Hillbillies to 4-1 on the season.

Running back Bodie Maisano led the charge, rushing 24 times for 148 yards. Wide receiver Jayden Nigro added 11 rushes for 59 yards and a touchdown. As a team, Verona ran the ball 43 times for 272 yards and two touchdowns.

Quarterback Connor DeMasi added two passing touchdowns, completing three of his six passing attempts. DeMasi rushed four times for 20 yards and an additional touchdown on the ground.

Next up for Verona is a matchup on the road at Hoboken on Friday. Game time is at 6:30 p.m.
