Roxbury Volleyball Advances in Morris County Tournament

ROXBURY, NJ - Riding on a bye that allowed it to skip preliminary round competition, the Roxbury High School girls volleyball team on Monday took on Morris Catholic in a first-round game and won.

In the 2-1 victory, the third-ranked Gaels beat the 19th-ranked Crusaders 25-10 and 25-18, meaning they move ahead in the tournament to take on sixth-ranked West Morris on Wednesday in quarterfinal action.

Roxbury, now with a 5-6 record, saw Alyssa Bukosky, Jenna Heiser and Isabella Gil each score three aces against Morris Catholic. Bianca Jackson chalked up 10 kills, Heiser made six digs and Rebecca Corrado was credited with 17 assists.

The Gaels next play West Morris Central on Oct. 1 in a 4 p.m. match at home.
