    Conklin read the following statement:

“After careful consideration and deliberation, I have decided not to request the renewal of my contract as superintendent. I have already informed the Board of my decision and wanted to make this public now so that the Board has ample time to find my successor.  This choice comes after a rewarding and meaningful experience with this district. I believe the time has come for me to pursue new opportunities and for the district to transition into its next chapter of leadership.

"Serving as your superintendent has been an honor. I am grateful for the trust you have placed in me, the support of our dedicated staff, and the ongoing collaboration with the board and community. Throughout my time here we have navigated challenges, celebrated achievements, and strived always to put the best interests of our students first. While I will not be seeking a contract renewal, please know that I am fully committed to continuing my work throughout the remainder of my term ending June 30, 2025. In partnership with the Board and administration, I will work towards a successful referendum and help to ensure a smooth and seamless transition as the district identifies new leadership.

"I remain dedicated to the success of our students, staff, and the entire school community. Thank you once again to the Board, the staff, and the community for your partnership and for the opportunity to serve.”

Board of Education president Julianne Grosso was not in attendance due to a family emergency. However, board member Danielle Mack confirmed that the Board of Education will be meeting with stakeholders, including teaching staff, administrators and parents at all schools, to solicit input in the search for its next superintendent. The board will not be utilizing a search firm and will be conducting their own search.

Conklin began in July 2021, replacing Dr. James Heinegg, who had announced his retirement after serving as superintendent since 2012.
