“We got a really good team effort in this one,” coach Jim Carroll said. “It’s always good to end the week with a league win. Congrats to Samantha Mazzella and Gianna Dolan, who both earned their first varsity goals.”

The prior Thursday at Yorktown, the Cornhuskers came away with a 2-0 victory, with Pac keepers Brianna Savino and Angelica Curcio combining on nine saves in net.

“That was a tough game for us,” Carroll said, “and credit to Yorktown for coming out fast and putting us in an early 1-0 hole.  I think we came out a little flat, but then settled in midway through the first half.  We then generated a few really good opportunities in the first half, but could not capitalize.  Yorktown was able to add to their total in the second half, and we unfortunately dropped our first game of league play. I felt that we had a difficult time with some of our touches.”

Mahopac opened the week at home, shutting out Brewster, 5-0 behind scores from Dolan (two), Mikaila Pikoulas, Kelleher, and Hughes. Kelleher, Hracs, Gianna Dolan, and Kayleigh Dolan each had an assist. Curcio stopped two shots on goal.

“I was very happy with the way our team played in this one,” Carroll said. "We generated a lot of opportunities offensively, and we were able to convert on our opportunities. I thought Kayleigh Dolan had a good game up top, and Cam Wilson generated a lot of opportunities for us on the outside.  We did a great job defensively shutting down Brewster's attack. Caoimhe Crisci played a great game in the back, and our unit as a whole played well to post the shutout.”

Mahopac is set to host John Jay CR on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.
