    HS Cross Country: Record Setting Day for Hasbrouck Heights Boys and Girls

    Hasbrouck Heights boys cross-country team captured first in the NJIC Patriot Division championship on Tuesday at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park.

    WOODLAND PARK – It was a very successful day for the Hasbrouck Heights cross-country program, as the boys captured first and the girls second place in the NJIC Patriot Division championship on Tuesday at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park.

    As a result, the boys captured the Patriot Division championship and the girls earned a share of the league title, defeating Bogota by a 31-53 score. It is the eighth league championship for the boys' team in the last 10 years, while the girls have earned a share of the title in 10 straight years. (They have been in different leagues during that time period.)

    Aidan Morrow captured his third straight league title by running the fastest time in school history at Garret Mountain, while Ryan Ober, who finished second in the race, posted the fourth-fastest time at Garret Mountain for an Aviator runner.

    Kyle von Seidelmann finished fifth, while Max Mazza (11 th ) and Connor Ng (12 th ) rounded out the scoring members of the team, while Vincent Zou 14 th and Neil Donnelly (18 th ) rounded out the Hasbrouck Heights contingent.

    Weehawken edged Hasbrouck Heights 32-34, despite the Lady Aviators breaking the Hasbrouck Heights course record for Garret Mountain by four and a half minutes. Mackenzie Bua set a school record of 19 minutes, 46 seconds, breaking Rebecca Fortoul and Isabella Drezek time of 20 minutes 19 seconds.

    Lexi Power tied the old record in coming in second at 20:19.  Nina Castellano also ran a personal best to finish in the top five. Mae Velicky finished 13th, Jazlynn Mora 15th, Silvia Andrade 21st and Lena Kaiser 27th to round out the Hasbrouck Heights contingent.
