SURF CITY, NJ - The Surf City Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and Emergency Medical Services have announced that they will be collecting supplies for the victims in the flood-ravaged areas of Western North Carolina. “Cole Home Construction along with the NJ Aero Club have joined forces to transport much needed items to the area via private planes,” Surf City Fire shared.  “Tuckerton Lumber Company has donated the use of a Surfbox for the collection of the donated supplies and will transport them to the airport to be loaded onto the planes.” They will be collecting supplies at the Surf City Firehouse as follows: Friday, October 4 from 12-7 p.m. Saturday, October 5 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday, October 6 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. or until the container is full. Since these items are going via private plane, they ask for NO WATER due to weight constraints. There are reasons for these specific requests. They are looking for the following items to be donated:
    • First Aid Supplies- bandaids, gauze, dressings, etc.
    • Flashlights and Batteries
    • Diapers, Wipes, Baby Food, Formula, powdered milk
    • Depends, Ladies Feminine products including pads and tampons
    • Toiletries
    • Canned or pouch tuna, chicken, salmon
    • Granola/breakfast bars
    • Dry cereal
    • Jerky
    • Dog/cat food in smaller bags
    • Liquid IV
Please no clothes, toys, linens or other non emergency type donations. They need to save space for what is desperately needed. Surf City Fire said, “Thank you for your kindness.  After Sandy, it is our turn to pay it forward.”
