The New Jersey Community Emergency Response Team (NJ C.E.R.T.) Program trains volunteers to assist during local emergencies and disasters. Managed by the NJ Office of Emergency Management, it educates citizens on disaster preparedness, basic response skills, and team organization. The 20-hour training covers fire safety, light search and rescue, and basic first aid, enabling volunteers to support professional responders and assist their communities during crises. C.E.R.T. members also participate in community outreach and emergency exercises, enhancing overall community preparedness and resilience.

The  Borough's Facebook page marked the occasion with a post stating “Congratulations to Cert Member Kenneth Bonnell on your retirement!   Thank you for your service to Cert and the Borough of Keyport!”
