SUMMIT, NJ -- Based on posted scores coming into the meet on Wednesday, the Hilltoppers felt like they might be the underdogs in a dual meet against Roxbury High School, who were 5-2 on its season so far.
However, the ladies got to work and pulled out a strong victory 105.15 to 102.75, which is the highest Summit team score since 2017.
Freshman Charlotte Lemkau had another strong meet, winning the All-Around (35.65), floor (9.4) and finishing 2nd on vault (9.1) and beam (9.325). Sophomore Caraline Delikaris had a season high 9.15 on floor for 3rd place and won bars (8.875) and vault (9.15). Sophomore Lily Silver had season high marks on bars (7.95) and beam (8.55).
Senior Julia Eroles (beam), juniors Anneliese Claus (beam), Ally Festejo (bars) and Ella Mulligan (floor) also posted season-high scores in the meet, giving the Hilltoppers an unexpected boost to stay ahead of Roxbury from start to finish. Juniors Quinn DeMuth (beam and floor), Charlotte Callaway (bars) and Catherine Fagan (vault) also contributed to the big win.
A bit past the halfway point in the season, the Hilltoppers are starting to solidify some lineups that will go into the postseason, with the following athletes qualified to the NJSIAA North I Sectional Championship, so far:
