DOYLESTOWN, PA—The Central Bucks Regional Police Department is adding a third K-9 officer courtesy of a grant from a local business.

K-9 Officer Granite, a Belgian Malinois, was brought into the department through a donation from The Thompson Organization. Granite is currently training with handler Kyle Maloney at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center in Philadelphia.

Granite is a dual-purpose police dog specializing in two areas: narcotics detection and patrol/protection. The latter includes tracking skills, searching buildings and belongings, recovering evidence and apprehending suspects.

Granite will be fully deployed with the force in late 2025. The Central Bucks force polices the boroughs of Chalfont, Doylestown and New Britain.

“We are deeply appreciative of the Thompson Organization for their continued commitment to the safety and security of the communities we serve,” Chief Karl Knott said in a statement.
