Newton Girls Tennis: Shuts Out Wallkill Valley, Loses in First Round of NJSIAA Tournament to Sussex Tech

NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls tennis team continued on in their regular season, shutting out Wallkill Valley when they hosted them on Wednesday, 5-0. The results of the matches are as follows:
1st: won over Samantha Sutton (N) won over Claire Kornak (WV) 6-4, 6-4
2nd: Micaela Schlesner (N) won over Fiona Gordon (WV), 6-0, 6-2
3rd: Kirsten Ehrnberg (N) won over Brooke Galway (WV) 6-2, 6-3
Doubles:
1st: Sinead Kerrick & Duncan Henriquez (N) won over Grace Carr & Zoey Vanderbeck (WV) 6-4, 6-4
2nd: Halle Schuele & Nana Tabiri (N) won over Audrey Newsome & Keylee Ramirez (WV) 6-4, 6-0
The Newton High School girls tennis team finished their season with an overall record of 7-5 and a NJAC-Colonial record of 3-0.
With a seventh seed, Newton took on 10-seeded Sussex Tech in the first round of the NJSIAA North Section 1, Group 1 tournament and lost 3-2. The results of the matches are as follows:
1st: Addison Realista (ST) won over Samantha Sutton (N) 6-0, 6-1
2nd: Micaela Schlesner (N) won over Mina Lin (ST) 6-0. 6-2
3rd: Danielle Martin-Conyers (ST) won over Kirsten Ehrnberg (N) 7-5, 6-4
Doubles:
1st: Sinead Kerrick & Duncan Henriquez (N) won over Mary Kornak & Leah Psourudis (ST), 7-5, 6-2
2nd: Bridget Esposito & Paige Fetterman (ST) won over Halle Schuele & Olivia Pasquale (N), 6-4, 6-4
