    MTHS Junior Receives Certificate of Appreciation from Twp.’s Historic Preservation Review Commission

    Montville Township High School junior Zachary Quan assisted the Township’s Historic Preservation Review Commission in the compilation of historical information. This electronic compilation gathered important historical data, from multiple sources, into an organized data base of Montville Township History. Anthony Angiolini, Chairman of the MT HPRC, presented the Certificate of Appreciation.

    MONTVILLE, NJ - Students and staff in the Montville Township Public Schools [MTPS] are volunteering to assist the Montville Township Historic Preservation Review Commission [MT HPRC] with historic preservation.

    During summer 2024, Montville Township High School [MTHS] junior Zachary Quan assisted the MT HPRC in the compilation of historical information. This electronic compilation gathered important historical data, from multiple sources, into an organized data base of Montville Township History.

    “Zac’s efforts on behalf of the MT HPRC have enhanced the local Historic Registry for Montville Township,” said Anthony Angiolini, Chairman of the MT HPRC. “The collection of this additional information will assist us in several upcoming township historical projects.”

    Quan was honored for his contribution at the September 23 meeting of the MT HPRC. The dedicated MTHS junior received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Historic Preservation Review Commission.

    In April, Brielle Cuccia (at the time an 8 th Grade student at Robert R. Lazar Middle School) interviewed Lazar Math Teacher Toby Cohen for the Montville Township Historic Preservation Review Commission’s Oral History Project. Organized by Teachers Caitlin Mosera and Richard Crescente, Lazar’s LNN Studio was the site of the interview. Cohen shared highlights from her 50-year teaching career at Lazar! MTHS alumna Samantha Grossman (2017) wrote a feature story for “MontvilleTAP” .

    MT HPRC is looking for volunteers , citizens who would like to participate in the Oral History Project , and photographs . MTPS is assisting with the collection of photographs and is particularly interested in locating photos that depict the history and building of the Township’s seven schools in Montville, Pine Brook, and Towaco. Anyone with historic Montville Township photos is asked to share them at www.montville.net/historicphotosmtps .
