EDISON, NJ — Colonia scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, but Edison took control after that and went on to a 27-21 football victory over the Patriots on Friday night.

Colonia (4-2) jumped out to a 14-6 lead, scoring on each of its first two possessions. Kyle Bell scored on a 12-yard run, sweeping around right end with 7:26 left in the first quarter, followed by an extra point kick by Anthony Garofalo for a 7-0 lead.

Edison (3-3) drove down and scored on its next possession, but missed the extra point. At the end of the opening quarter, Colonia scored on Dylan Chiera's 10-yard TD pass to Nygel Hill. Chiera rolled out to his right and hit his wideout in the back of the right corner of the end zone with :03 left in the first quarter before Garofalo kicked the PAT.

But Edison scored on three of its next four possessions and took a 27-14 lead before the Patriots scored a fourth-quarter TD on a 45-yard pass from Chiera to Jaylen McRae.

Edison thwarted Colonia's bid for a last-minute comeback with an interception in the end zone to seal the verdict.

Colonia will host Plainfield next Friday at 6 p.m.
