    Spotswood High School Storms Past Bound Brook on Gridiron

    BOUND BROOK, NJ - It was a big victory under the lights on Friday night for the Spotswood High School varsity football team. Spotswood defeated Bound Brook High School 28-0 for the Chargers' third shutout of the season. Quarterback Se'mir Tolbert-Brimage continued to be a guiding force for Spotswood's offense, throwing for three touchdowns.

    Stephen Henits scored three touchdowns for Spotswood. Henits had four receptions for 89 yards. Shawn Lennan threw for one Chargers TD. Ryan Foster scored one touchdown for Spotswood. Gavin Pereira connected on four extra points for Spotswood. Sebastian Saracino had 17 carries for 73 yards. The Chargers defense had a clean scoresheet for the third time this season. Spotswood also had shutouts against David Brearley and South River High Schools.

    Spotswood's victory improved the Chargers' overall season record to 5-1. The Chargers are 3-0 in the Big Central's Freedom Gold Division. Spotswood is 3-0 against division teams. The Chargers won the Freedom Gold Division title last fall for the first time.

    Next Saturday, the Chargers will play their first home game at Chargers Stadium on the newly installed artificial turf field. Spotswood's first home game in September was played at Sayreville War Memorial High School because the field wasn't ready. The Chargers will get to play Saturday's game against Dayton High School and the final home game of the season on October 18 against South Hunterdon High School at Chargers Stadium. The October 18 game will be a home Friday Night Lights matchup for Spotswood.

    Saturday's game is a Freedom Gold Division game. Dayton has an overall season record of 1-3 and is 1-2 against Freedom Gold Division teams. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
