EDISON, NJ - The township council will hear an ordinance to minimize light spilling into residential properties. The council will hold a public hearing and consider adopting the ordinance at Wednesday’s meeting.

According to the ordinance, the township has received numerous complaints regarding ‘over-illumination’ at residential properties. The ordinance would prohibit soffit lighting above the height of the first floor on the side yard of any residential dwelling. Soffit lights are installed on a home's exterior covering the roof's underside.
