Sparta Football Shuts Out Dover

DOCER, N J – On Friday night, Sparta football went to Dover and came home with a 40-0 win. Spartan QB Shane Hoover connected 16 of 26 attempts in the air for 270 yards and four touchdowns.

Hoover targeted four different players with touchdown passes. Stone Herbison got three, covering 69 yards and a trip to the endzone. Luke Doster snagged three for 48 yards and a TD. Christina Brevig grabbed three for 28 yards and a touchdown. Zack Vanaman only needed one pass for 37 yards to get six points for Sparta.

Brady Shagawat and Le-shem Little also made some catches for Sparta.

Shagawat carried 18 times for 92 yards and a touchdown. Jace Stiansen had seven carries for 39 yards and a TD.

The defense held Dover scoreless. Hunter Chlodnicki, Brody Tanyeri, Lincon Brill and Caden Masternak each got credit for a sack.

Chlodnicki blocked a kick and had seven tackles. Tanyeri forced two fumbles. Vinny Rispoli, with four tackles, also pulled in an interception. Dino Varvaro had an interception as well.

Tanyeri was successful on six of seven extra point kicks.

Sparta’s winning streak continues, moving to a record of 5-1. On October 18 the Spartans play at West Milford with a 6:30 kickoff. They are home again on October 25, hosting Jefferson.
