CHATHAM, NJ – Chatham Boy Scout Ben Bernich has completed his Eagle Scout project, building a bocce ball court at the Chatham Township Municipal Building, near the playground, for all ages to enjoy.

The Chatham High senior decided to build the court after it was requested by a group of senior citizens to help promote an active lifestyle.

Bernich teamed up with Simonfay Landscaping, the Chatham Township DPW and his scouting friends to complete the construction that started at the beginning of the summer.

“A typical game of bocce lasts between 20 minutes to an hour and is a fun low-impact sport,” Bernich said. “It is a great activity for people of all ages and abilities. There are no bocce balls at the court so you must bring your own if you would like to play.”
