Valli, Valenzuela, Byrne, DeCicco, Haines, Hale & Straka Lead Chatham Boys Cross-Country to 2nd at Shore Coaches Invitational

HOLMDEL, NJ – Finn Valli and Marcus Valenzuela both broke 17 minutes in leading the Chatham boys cross-country team to second place in the Varsity C Race the Shore Coaches Invitational held Saturday at Holmdel Park.

In the 29-team field, Chatham posted 79 points, with Ocean City winning the race with 67 points. As a team, Chatham averaged a time of 17:07. Overall, Chatham's team average was eighth best out of more than 100 teams to run the course.

Cougar senior Valli placed third in the race with a time of 16:31 and junior Valenzuela crossed in 16:37 to finish fourth.

Junior Brady Byrne ran 17:23 to place 22nd, senior Dylan DeCicco was 26th in 17:30 and junior Thomas Haines ran 17:35 to place 27th for Chatham. Sophomore Tyler Hale was 45th in 18:12 and senior Leo Straka 94th in 19:16 for the Cougars.
