    Weekend Sports Recap: Sayreville Loses in Football, Boys Soccer, and Field Hockey

    SAYREVILLE, NJ – Three teams played for Sayreville War Memorial High School this past weekend; football, boys soccer, and field hockey.

    Sayreville lost to Piscataway 42-13 on Friday, Oct. 4. Despite being 2-4 this season, the Bombers are still second in the National Silver Division of the Big Central Conference, with their only two wins being against division opponents Edison and North Brunswick. They will play their next game on Friday, Oct. 11, at home against Franklin.

    Boys Soccer

    Sayreville lost their first game in two weeks, falling to South Plainfield 3-1 on Friday. Senior Aiden Petras scored the only goal for the Bombers, which was his second goal of the season. Sayreville is now 4-5-1 this season and sits in fourth place in the White Division of the Greater Middlesex Conference. They will begin the In-Season Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 8, against South Brunswick.

    Field Hockey

    Sayreville now goes to 6-6-1 on the season, losing to St. John Vianney 4-1 on Saturday, Oct. 5. Senior Sheridan Markowski scored the only goal for the Bombers, assisted by freshman Savannah Parse. Depsite the loss, Sayreville is still first in the White Division of the Greater Middlesex Conference. They will look to bounce back in their next game on Saturday, Oct. 12, against Keyport.
