SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Residents can dispose of any unused or expired medications at the South Brunswick Police Station on Saturday, October 26 from 10AM to 2PM, according to the DEA. This is in conjunction with the DEA’s National Medicine Take Back Day, as townships and municipalities across the country will also be collecting unneeded medications at this time.

Police are asking that all medications be taken out of the original container and be placed into plastic bags prior to arrival at the station, located at 540 Ride Road.

They will not accept plastic containers or the boxes that contain the medications. Liquid medications will be accepted in their original containers as long as the lid is on tightly to prevent any leakage.

This service is for expired or unused medication only. Medical items, such as syringes and other sharp items, will not be collected at this time.

“The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat,” the DEA’s website reads, “DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.”
