    South Plainfield Boys Cross-Country Team Wins Shore Invitational

    HOLMDEL, NJ -- The South Plainfield High School boys cross-country team finished first in the team standings in Group D at Shore Coaches Invitational on Saturday,

    This is the first time in the history of South Plainfield's cross-country program that the Tigers came in first place at this meet.

    The Tigers topped a field of 23 schools competing in Group D. with a team total of 100 points, 12 ahead of second-place Indian Hills.

    Junior James Katsingris was the top individual runner for South Plainfield, finishing fifth with a time of 17:14.00.

    Also finishing in the top 20 for the Tigers were senior Nicholas DeGeronimo (15th with a time of 18:03) and senior Nathan Staats (18th, 18:12).

    Rounding out the championship field of South Plainfield runners were Daniel Fullman (18:26), Carter Lodato (18:46), Alexander Rowlands (19:06) and Caden Soto (19:22). There were 176 runners in Group D.

    Alex Pelov of Montville won the gold medal in Group D, running the race in 16:16.
