    Fourth Quarter Rally Powers Verona To 5th Win of the Season

    VERONA, NJ - Resiliency was the name of the game for the Verona Varsity Football Team this past Friday.

    Down seven points heading into the fourth quarter, the Hillbillies scored 14 unanswered points to defeat Hoboken 26-19. The win moves Verona to 5-1 on the season.

    Quarterback Connor DeMasi completed 12 of his 20 passing attempts for 174 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Wide receivers Jayden Nigro and Dean Algieri caught a touchdown each and combined for 155 yards through the air. Nigro added 41 yards on nine carries and a defensive interception.

    Verona rushers combined for 26 carries and 90 yards, led by Bodie Maisano’s 15 carries and 46 yards. Maisano added a forced fumble on defense.

    Next up for Verona is a home matchup against New Providence on Friday. Game time is at 6 p.m.
