    Burlington County Seeking Candidates for Corrections Officers

    MOUNT HOLLY, NJ — Interested in working for Burlington County? The Burlington County Department of Corrections is seeking qualified applicants to join its team of corrections officers.

    County Correctional Police Officers perform a wide variety of tasks in support of the safety, security and welfare of inmates, facility personnel and visitors. The job is an essential position which includes weekends and holidays and 12-hour shifts. The starting salary is $58,836.

    Benefits include pension, paid vacation, accrued sick time, medical and dental. Applicants must be 18 years of age and maintain a valid New Jerseys Driver’s license, must pass medical and psychological testing and must pass a background investigation.

    Candidates must also be able to successfully complete the following physical assessment prior to attending a police academy approved by the New Jersey Police Training Commission:

    • Vertical Jump: 15 inches

    • Sit Ups: 28 reps in 1 minute

    • Push Ups: 24 reps in 1 minute

    • 300-meter run: 70.01 seconds or less

    • 1.5 mile run: 15:55 minutes or less

    Candidates must successfully complete a police training course approved by the New Jersey Police Training Commission. Such training includes successful attainment of a satisfactory level of proficiency in the use of firearms.

    Why would anyone go work there in county corrections. Even our state can't get enough applicants for more money and benefits to work in the few state prisons we have left. The state and civilian administrators treat inmates better then staff. Oh wait yoi no longer can call them inmates or convicts. Now they are considered RESIDENTS.

    Good luck finding long term hires for that thankless job. You spent decades staffing those positions with highly unqualified individuals and now you need new recruits to change the landscape.
